3 Etudes over Rhythm Tmp 12 – Randy Cohen

Randy has been with me for about 3 years. When he started out he could barely play a few “cowboy” chords and expressed his interest to play jazz. I must add that he is a surgeon with a very busy schedule and a family, and in spite of this has managed to always squeeze in time to practice and make ongoing progress. In spite of the fact that he is no virtuoso with super chops, he should be an inspiration to all who complain about not having time to practice. Just ask him…If you want it bad enough you’ll make the time!

Randy wrote out these 3 etudes over Rhythm Template 12. You’ll find that the rhythm is identical on all 3 of them, but the notes are different. When he improvises freely now , a lot of these rhythms and ideas are coming out in his playing.
