Using the rhythm template from module 3, I’ve been writing etudes that contain a few of the enclosures that I’ve had a hard time making sound good, such as enclosing the b7 with a 6 and a major 7, enclosing the 1 with a b2 and a major 7, or enclosing the 5 with a b5 and a b6. Tempo, rhythm, and phrasing are so important with these types of enclosures, and I think I am starting to feel them a bit better now.
In the audio below, you can hear these trickier enclosures in measures 4 and 9 (enclosing 1 with a b2 and a major 7), measures 7 and 11 (enclosing 5 with b6 and b5).
